Bread & Butter Pudding!

with 2 comments

Doesn’t look too bad huh?

I gave my family a treat today. Topped the Bread & Butter Pudding with Haagen Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream! LOL my sister insisted on a second serving even though she’s not feeling well. So yeah, I’m happy!

Went out with Mum today for a while. To settle the ceiling fans and kitchen sinks for the new house. She’s not free tomorrow morning so I’m supposed to fill in for her and go take measurements at the site so they can confirm the orders for the fans and sinks.

Pam the Aspiring Contractor, hoho!

No way man. I don’t like wet soil. LOL anyway tomorrow’s an exciting day! There’s gonna be lunch with my favourite people before our dear friend Zhi flies off to visit her father. Yup! And then I think I’ll go settle all the electrical appliances for the new house with my mum. Like I said, Pam the Contractor. Haha.

But no, I’d rather be Pam the Aspiring Baker! Shall make CCCC tomorrow – Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies! We’re going to Sentosa on Sunday with Serena and William so yup, shall be nice and give all my cousins a treat. The recipe yields 72 so yeah, I’ll pretty much be cooked myself.

Stole this picture from Lana’s blog. It’s so nice and homey!

I love G8!

Ivy and Peeeeee we need a get-together soon! Batch lunch in school okay?

Haha. That’s the exact expression that was all over my round face for every horrid paper we took in the past week.

I haven’t slept more than a wink.

Okay. Maybe not.

But well, I came this close to forgetting how computers work or how soppy Chinese drama serials can be. Everyday was just me and those horrid, horrid books.

And Kaye, in the library.

AH WELL. Our last Common Test is over.

Like that’s such a big deal.

How’d it go? Well, let’s just say…
Econs was uh, Explosive.
Chem was like, Classic. (Chem Focus here I come!)
Math was Mind-boggling.
Bio was just Boggling.

My hands are itching from the lack of contact with butter, sugar, eggs and my electric mixer. So yes, I shall attempt a new Bread Pudding recipe tomorrow and hope everything goes well!

This weekend shall be “Play All You Can Before Your Parents See Your Grades And Realise How Much Trouble Their Kid Is In” Weekend.

Prelims? I say,”Bring It On!”

And of course, you’d believe me.

To paint a more vivid picture of what I meant by delicious in the previous entry, here’s a classic.

Okay you know what? I shall officially embark on a hiatus from unnecessary, obsessive, self-indulgent blogging.

Till next time, folks!

New York Cheesecake!

leave a comment »

Okay, I should stop making such a big deal out of it.

But hey, I thought it’d be a huge disaster and I was so afraid I’d mess it up. My cousins and I planned this dinner party for all the daddies and I was in charge of the cheesecake so if I did mess it up… oh boy.

It turned out pretty well though! Looked okay, albeit a little messy. But the texture was surprisingly smooth! My dad insists it’s because I used Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Which is so fattening I’m so glad I’m not so much of a cheesecake fan.

Ah well, he loved the cake! That’s what mattered most!

Well well. So a huge part of today was spent buying ingredients, writing a card, baking, cleaning up and then heading for the dinner party. Which was such a blast ‘cos the food prepared by the mummies and daughters (mostly) were simply delicious.

LOL that’s the new Word of The Day. Delicious. Actually no, it’s the Word of the Week. My cousins and I kept making such a deal out of how it should sound while we were at the kelong.

Which reminds me, I survived the 3 days! You’d be surprised, man.

1. There weren’t mirrors. Okay no, there were mirrors but they were so small you couldn’t see anything neck down. So yeah, I got through Day One looking at my reflection in the window LOL. And by Day Two I decided there’s no point fussing over how you look when you’re in a kelong ‘cos all that matters is how big the sting ray you caught was. Yup.

2. The toilet had a manual flush. And the best part of it? Immediately after you flushed you’d hear the sound of everything going into the sea. I’m so glad I’m not a fish.

3. Uh, the bed and the blanket smelt like how guys smell after PE. Which is like, totally fragrant. And the bedsheets were as clean as the ones we had in the Sick Bay back in St Nick’s Primary.

4. Actually the food was pretty good. Today my jeans felt like they suddenly became tighter o.O

5. Most of our time was spent fishing. Which is obviously my kinda thing.

Haha, I’m sure.

So yeah, that basically sums up my 3-day Survivor Kelong Experience. No signs of tsunamis, some really pretty pictures of the sunset, and memories to last a lifetime.

Hahaha, okay I should stop sounding like such a Drama Mama.

Oh yeah, and I had my first-ever foot reflexology session in this little town somewhere in Bintan. Until now we’re not exactly sure the place we went to was Bintan. Haha anyway the hour-long session was spent trying to figure out why membranes are phospholipid bilayers i.e. I was hiding behind my books in an attempt to conceal my contorted facial expressions. It probably wasn’t supposed to hurt very much but well, let’s just say it wasn’t the most relaxing experience. Though everyone else insists it was cheap and really good. Hmm.

Ah well, tomorrow marks the start of the last week of the last June Holidays I’ll ever have! Goodness me, I feel so old.

Okay time to shut up now. I’ll just leave you with this super nice picture from the trip!

Goodbye Land, Hello Sea!

with 4 comments

Yup that’s right.

No blogging, coming online or watching Channel 8 dramas for the next three days ‘cos Miss Loo Jing Ling’s off to…

How cool is that!

Okay, probably not that cool. But it’ll be a nice change from our overly-reliant-on-technology world, wouldn’t it? Although I hear this kelong has air-conditioning. For all you know there might be bluetooth-controlled fishing rods?

Hahaha alright enough nonsense. The last time I went to a kelong I was a skinny, nerdy, ee-yucks-what’s-that-in-the-water-oh-it’s-just-seaweed noob. And pagers were apparently still The In Thing. Anyway this time around I’m a (sob sob) far from skinny, trying-to-be-nerdy (at least I’m gonna bring my notes and attempt to mug, for all you know it could work), still-ee-yucks-what’s-that-black-thing-oh-it’s-just-seaweed noob.

That’s the way, Pam. Keep talking to yourself.

Alrightey, got some packing to do. Actually it’ll probably be done in like 10 seconds. I don’t think we’re leaving the kelong at all for the 3 days so yeah, no point parading around in anything other than FBTs and ugly school shirts for the fish to see right?

Okie dokes, this shall be all. Pray the Tsunami waves keep away from the area (wherever we’re going, I haven’t got a clue myself) and uh, I hope I don’t get too sea-sick! If all goes well, we’ll meet again in 3 days!

Study hard! (Unlike me, y’all haven’t got an excuse not to study! LOL only kidding.)

Food, glorious food!

with 2 comments

Oh my goodness you’re gonna drool just looking at all these photos I got off the net while I was food-blog-hopping. It’s my new let’s-take-a-break-from-studying-even-though-it’s-only-been-2-seconds hobby!

To die for, seriously. Feast your eyes, guys!

Cinnamon Rolls glazed with Vanilla Sauce!

S’more Brownie (i.e. Marshmellows toasted on a Brownie baked on a digestive base!)

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies (‘Nuff said!)

Surprise Banana Cake!

Gingerbread Man!

Faints and dies

Vermont Apple Pie

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Caramel Apples smothered with marshmellows, chocolate sauce and digestives!

Mint Chocolate Cookies

Okay I don’t know that this last one is called, but I know it looks nice!

I’ve decided that if there’s one disease I’m gonna die of, it’s got to be Diabetes.

Seriously, who can resist all that!

Okay that’s enough for the day. My stomach’s growling.

Estee and Shuwei just called. They’re out JOGGING. And uh, it’s like midnight? Anyway they want me to tell a joke here. The typical Estee joke. Prepare yourselves guys, you’re gonna have The Laugh of Your Life.

Why didn’t Xiao Ming die even though he fell from the 20th storey?

Xiao Ming is a leaf.

Okay time to smack those thighs and start laughing.

I love my friends. Hahaha!

Study, study, STUDY!

with 4 comments

I’m gonna study so hard so that someday, I’ll wind up looking like this!

LOL. Except without the facial hair. And yeah, hopefully I’ll still be female.

Actually, maybe more like this.

Problem with this one?

1. I’ll never be that skinny.

2. Uh, I’ll never be that skinny.

Okay this is clearly unnecessary, excessive, obsessive blogging at its best.

OMG! I’m talking to myself again!

Oh. And guess what?

I think I punched the CEO of Texas Instruments in my past life or something. The graphic calculator I’m currently using is the third one I’ve bought because I LOST THE LAST TWO. I rock, I know. But know what? THIS ONE’S GOING BONKERS TOO!

If I have to pay for another one, I’m so gonna quit school. Math ain’t my thing.

Actually no, Math’s the only subject I think I’ll actually pass. So uh, well, that just shows what a brilliant student I am.

This is depressing. I shall continue with Differentiation. Maybe if the GC sees how hard I’m working it’ll suddenly light up and start working again.

“Bagus, Pam.”

Know what?

I think that fever did something to me.

Something almost catastrophic.

See? I’m spouting nonsense again.

Perfect timing, to get your brains fried to golden perfection (this reminds me of Outback Steakhouse’s Fish & Chips … yum!) when the last major exam before our Prelims is in TWO WEEKS.

Good golly, bless me heart.

And me brains.

Or whatever’s left of it.

Sick and tired.

with one comment

Literally. Not in the irritated with life sense.

Woke up this morning with my eyelids burning. My first thought?

Oh the joy.

So yeah, took my sister’s fever medicine (leftover from last week)  and went back into Slumberland. Then woke up again at 12 feeling a lot less feverish but a lot more sweaty. Ugh.

Read the newspapers and slacked around for a bit before whipping out my Cloning in Plants lecture notes. Then my sister’s friends appeared so I had to disappear from the study.

So here I am now, lounging about on my bed with my laptop in front of me.

The Wonders of Wireless Technology I say.

Okay, this post is highly random and highly unnecessary. I should totally be studying instead.

A Day in the Life of a Tai-Tai

with 2 comments

WHOOPEE! It’s like 9 in the morning and I’m up making Pandan Cake!

Maybe not so much of a tai-tai, considering I’m pretty much in my most unglamourous state right now – FBT shorts, Sec 2 Faith class tee, hair like a broom and uh, I haven’t washed my face! LOL.

Ah well, now I know what actually goes into Pandan Cake. It’s not as easy as I imagined it to be!

Anyway, if you’re wondering why I specifically chose tai-tai over housewife or just the usual me, considering I’ve been baking so often, I’M GOING SHOPPING LATER! Yep, so I figured only tai-tais wake up at unearthly hours (and probably put on face masks first) to bake for their kids (except here I’m baking for my parents LOL) and then go shopping even when they have wardrobes full of clothes (uh, I’d like to think I have that many clothes but sadly, I don’t!)

Hmm, maybe not so much of a tai-tai afterall huh?

Oh well, Dad said I came home looking extra radiant last night. Guess why?

Haha Shuwei will agree. We both went shopping with our mothers after studying for a bit yesterday. Heh and the studying didn’t come without a fair amount of playing. More than fair, in fact.

Yuanbing, Shuwei and I went to catch Shrek 3 in the morning yesterday. Totally felt like the good ol’ Primary School days – watching movies in the morning?! And practically the whole cinema was filled with Caucasian parents and their kids! Haha. But Shrek was quite hilarious. The way they imitated the high school kids was really ‘LOL’! You guys should go catch it if you’re looking for a good laugh!

After the movie we took a very very very very very long time to decide on what to eat. While heading to Heeren, we kinda got distracted and I remembered that there’s Yami Yoghurt at Meridien Hotel so of course, Shuwei and I went in for the kill, haha. We were so full after all the sushi, you’d think we’d stop there, but no, we went for GELATO. This place at Wheelock has to-die-for gelato! And the servings are so so so huge! Delightful though.

Only surrendered after the Giant Gelato. Yuanbing headed home while the two of us feeling guilty and knowing we’ll totally just fall asleep if we go home (Note: Eat, Sleep, Eat, Sleep…) decided we should instead try and mug.

Then my mother called and told me she needs to do some shopping and asked if I wanna go along. Who in the right mind turns down an offer like that?! Haha so yeah, that was GSS Day 1 – a jacket and 2 tops!

Okay the cake’s looking really green. Hope all goes well!
